Small Groups at St. John’s

At St. John’s, we want to build a community of believers that relate meaningfully to one another and with the realities of our neighborhood. A number of groups are available as a means to foster this community building. These small groups are intended to be life-sharing environments where we can also identify gifts in one another and encourage the growth of our gifts.

Home Scripture Study

The Home Scripture study is an intensive exploration of Scripture with the goal of deepening our commitment to Christ, to one another, and to the mission of Christ in the world. Each year we focus on one portion of the Bible, often one of the shorter Epistles (last year was “Episodes from the Gospel of Mark”). In addition to studying the passage each week, we also pray for one another and enjoy a brief time of fellowship after. We gather every other Sunday night from 7:00-8:30 p.m., beginning on January 20th.

Stay tuned for the Fall schedule!

St. John’s Walking Club

Join others from the St. John’s community for a short walk, usually about an hour, on Sunday afternoons. Typically, the group meets at the church at 4:00 p.m. and carpools to the destination. Recent destinations have included Maltby Lakes and the Quinnipiac River. We are usually back by 6 p.m. This club is seasonal, and activities are announced during the service. Contact stjnewhaven@gmail.com for more information.

St. John’s Adventure Crew

Join us for monthly excursions in and around the New Haven area! Recent activities have included a September kayak and canoe trip, an October corn maze and creamery adventure, and a November leaf-raking and property care day. Contact stjnewhaven@gmail.com for more information.

Old Time Music Jam

All skill levels and instruments are welcome! We meet together on Friday evenings to play music together at St. John’s or someone’s home. Contact stjnewhaven@gmail.com if interested

St. John’s Book Club

Join us for a weekly book discussion following the Sunday Service in the undercroft. The book club is a great way to delve deeper into our faith together.
